Add to personal calendar
Date: 6/27/2012
Time: 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Location: the EARTH Center, in Davidsons Mill Pond Park 42 Riva Ave.
North Brunswick, NJ
Speaker: Melissa Almendinger, Executive Director of the New Jersey Invasive Species Strike Team
Description: The workshop will be on "Invasive Species", and how homeowners can do their part to prevent foreign plant & insect species from crowding out desirable native species in their landscape. While some of the more nationally know invasive species include the snakehead fish, fire ants, and kudzu, in the Northeast we are being impacted by 50 widespread invasive species, such as Japanese knotweed, and another 100 emerging invasive species, such as English ivy, yellow iris, and rock snot.

This workshop will be hosted by Melissa Almendinger, Executive Director of the New Jersey Invasive Species Strike Team. The evening will consist of a short hike in Davidson's Mill Pond Park and a classroom presentation.

The 2012 gardening workshops series at the EARTH Center is a great opportunity for those who cannot commit to the weekday sessions of the Middlesex County Master Gardeners Classes.

Registration is required by June 25, 2012. The program fee is $20. The size of the class is limited, so register early to insure a space. For more information contact the Ag office at 732-398-5262.
