Middlesex County EARTH Center
South Brunswick, NJ
|Speaker:||Rutgers Master Gardener Dot Cohen.|
|Description:||The Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Middlesex County invites you to participate in a workshop where you can build your own rain barrel and learn how to install it at home.
This workshop is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11 at the EARTH Center located in Davidson's Mill Pond Park, 42 Riva Ave., South Brunswick.
A rain barrel is placed under a gutter's downspout next to a house, to collect rain water from the roof. That water can then be used to water gardens or for a number of other household tasks. There will be a workshop material fee of $45 per rain barrel. These barrels sell for over $100 at specialty garden shops.
All tools and materials will be provided. The barrel you will make in the workshop will hold about 50 gallons of water and is quite large. Please keep this in mind when it comes to your vehicle. Barrels can be placed lying down in the backseat of most four-door vehicles to be transported home.
To register, call 732-398-5275. Registration is required and material fees are due by June 9.
The County's Extension Office is part of a nationwide network that brings the research of the State land-grant universities to local people.
