Description:

Do you want to get a jumpstart on the growing season with the plant varieties you can’t buy at the garden center? Yes? Then start your seeds indoors! This presentation provides practical advice and lessons learned from a master gardener who has many years of experience starting seeds indoors. The presentation begins with planning and ordering seeds and ends with preparing the home-grown seedlings for life outdoors. You’ll learn what seeds to start indoors and better yet, what seeds not to start indoors. This presentation covers the supplies you’ll need: artificial lighting, heat mats, containers, and the best seed starting medium to use. Step-by-step instructions describe how to calculate the right time to start your seeds, how to sow them, keeping records, and caring for young seedlings with proper watering, fertilizing, thinning, and hardening off techniques.
